Hello everyone,
Well, the title says it all. We have returned, mostly thanks to the improvements made to the new block editor as far as accessibility and useability with our screen reading softwhere, before which we could not effectively create posts at all. It’s been an adventure-filled couple of years, I’ll say that much, and as you can probably tell by now, there have been major changes, both in my life and in the lives of the others who I share a body and life with, this time, for the most part, for the better.
The first of these changes is that we are no longer in therapy focused on finding the causes of our formation as a system/community. There are a lot of reasons for this, and I want to save those for another article/post, but for now I will say that such a focus on those reasons was simply not in our best intrest, despite the claims of two therapists to the contrary, and leave it at that. We are much happier now without the need to overthink everything we experience, even if it took some a while to get to that place.
The second change is that no one here, including me, takes this whole posting thing nearly as seriously as we used to. Part of that is a result of getting vary used to, and comfortable with, talking to online friends on text-chat programs, and the other half is a result of making more frequent use of platforms like Twitter, where the amount of space you have in a given post is limited. I don’t feel like overthinking and spending hours picking over things I put up here because plurality (our new term for being multiple) is so misunderstood. There are other online resources for that. I should not have to spend months between posts because I want it to be perfect, and/or because so little happens in that area of my life worth posting about, which was the case in 2019 especially. This project, whatever its goal ultimately was, is supposed to be fun, and it wasn’t when I stepped away from it. I’m hoping that will change with my own shifts in expectations as far as content production is concerned.
The third change is that we will not be using some tags anymore. Spesificly, the OSDD, DDNOS, DID, and other disorder-related tags will stop appearing on posts. We are a mixed-origin system, and despite events that took place in 2019, we do not have a disorder because of that, or because we are plural. I have said this before, but there is no doubt in my mind now, because bad therapy is not putting it there. We may be plural, have a lot of us around, experience system dynamics that have the potential to cause distress, and not have a solution to things that may happen when we need one quickly. The difference is that we’re physically older now, have friends who support us even if they’re online, and have things in this world to focus on, as of January of this year (2022). The problem was never the experiences themselves, even when they became bothersome. The problem was a lack of support and my inability to recognize that for what it was, and what it was doing to us. I was a kid doing what kids often do in a world that doesn’t understand them as well as they think they do. I don’t blame myself; that was simply the truth of the matter, and now it isn’t.
Finally, the fourth change is that our presence on YouTube is basically over. We’ve removed all of our plurality-related content, attempted to start another series, and then let it die out because none of us have the energy to make videos after being out for six hours of the day. We’re already writing; if it isn’t fiction, it’s long, essay-style explanations of various things (not that we’ve gotten that far down the rabbet hole yet). We decided, when we’re not working on either of those things, to work on posts when we’re able to, and that will most likely be a frequent happening because there’s only so long any of us can spend focused on something as resource-demanding as fiction or essay-like pieces.
And that concludes our first post in two years! I hope you’re all still around to see it, and I appreciate you sticking around to see what happens next!
