a basic explanation of what we are

***Important Note:

Since this article was written, I have changed many of my views on what has been covered, and now no longer subscribe to the idea that we are disordered because we are multiple. In addition, I now know more about the members of the system, and realize that their experience of coming into it was not always begun by the classic splitting process I talk about here. Last but not least, this blog is everchanging, along with my perceptions of this world and my own reality. This is where I was in the time the following content was written. Don't take it as unchangeable, solid fact, because it isn't meant to be that way. This is our experience, nothing else.

Hey everybody.

Today, we'll be going into some more details about who and what we are, exactly. I'll say right now, my spelling is not the best, and while usually I'd run articles like this through a spell checker before I post, I'm being lazy tonight and not bothering because who cares, right? :)

Content notice: the following post contains talk of Dissociative Identity Disorder formation.

The body we live in houses over 60 of us, probably closer to over 70 when we find everyone. The reason for this, in our case, was because of early childhood trauma that caused us to form apart from one another. If the trauma hadn't happened, we'd all be only one person, but since I, Maria, had to pretend as hard as I could back then that things weren't happening to me, my brain got so used to accessing different parts of itself for different things that the others formed, and became seprate from me. Thus, we are we rather than I.

We haven't been diagnosed with anything other than PTSD, so we can't say for sure, but we think we have a lesser form of DID known as OSDD, or Otherwise Spesifyed Dissociative Disorder. That's just a fancy term for saying, we are we, but don't have huge memory gaps when different alters, called insiders here, are in control.

We have an essay coming up soon, in traditional 5 paragraph format, which crams an explanation of DID, OSDD, causes, symptoms, and treatment into itself.

Content notice: The following is talk of spiritual/energetic things.

We live in a body that is an empath. As such, all of us are effected to some degree or another. Being an empath is just a fancy term for feeling the emotions of others as though they were your own. This caused us a lot of truble in our early years, but thanks to help from some close friends, we've learned things to manage this sometimes dibilatating gift/ability. It was a huge contributer to our formation as 'we,' but this is an airia I've only just begun exploring so I'll have to learn more about what all's gone on before I can say anything for 100 percent sure yet.

The next entry will be the text of our essay regarding DID and other disorders like it, and we're hoping it'll give a little of a better explanation than the rushed one here.

If you enjoied this post, feel free to share the blog with friends, family, coworkers, and anybody else who's in need or who is interested in learning something knew.

Good thoughts sent your way!

Maria and others.
