Welcome to our story.

Hello all.

We are CommunityBelonging, a system of people whose origins are as diverse as our stories. We began this blog as a response to the social stigma we encountered in our daily life when we came out to people as who we truly were, and have kept it up not only to fight such stigma, but to give ourselves a reason to write and explore what it is to be plural in the context of the world we live in and the things we have experienced. We realized we were plural in 2015, and have been working toward fully embracing this fact ever since. Writing is just one of the things we are using in our process, but without it, we probably would not be where we are today.

To our dismay, we have been diagnosed by three different mental health professionals with disorders related to being plural. Some of the names given to our way of life were more pointed about that particular relationship than others, but they have all been quite discouraging in the end, and we have, as a whole, decided that having such lables has done us more harm than good. This does not mean, however, that I will no longer try my best to help us of CommunityBelonging recover from the experiences we have had at the hands of those who would rather us ly about ourselves than be comfortable with our reality.

Our ultimate goal is to be openly plural -- that is, to be unafraid of being ourselves, with various community members taking control of the body (either referred to from here forward as switching, emerging or fronting) at any time, with any person or group, and in any setting.

Since this blog’s creation, we have discovered many things, and, when needed, written articles containing up-to-date information. We do our best to give notices when a given post may be out of date, but we can make no promises that we will be able to catch everything, so if you see something that looks like it may be old, confusing or outdated, leave a comment if you can and we'll put a note on the article, if one is needed, to indicate that its information may be out of date.

We have also been trying to provide links in some articles, mostly as an aid for those of you who like, want or need to have a deeper understanding of a given topic that may be touched on in the article containing the link, but which may also tie into the linked post in some way. We will be doing that more consistently as of November of 2019, because, let's just say, it's going to be needed.

We have a lot to talk about. Let's get started.

Getting lost?
